{January 30, 2020}   Home Cooked Meal

The last few days I have been wanting to eat anything and everything. Roast, steak, chilli, chicken and anything else you can think of.

Last night I went to his house after work and Bff came picked us up and we all went to Steak and Shake. I wanted a burger, chilli mac and chicken.

He says you sound like your pregnant and bff chimes in and says are you? I said no, she kept on. They were joking around. They thought I was joking about wanting all 3. I said no I do. So me and him split the chilli and I got chicken. He got a burger and we left.

She dropped us off it was late I felt sick. He went in and got my keys I forgot them at his house. I left too. She called me was like is their a chance at all your pregnant?

There isn’t at all a chance. I had my monthly friend twice since the last time I was with anyone. I always use something.

Today I was talking to him I was like dang I want to eat, i want this, this, and this. He laughed. I said I don’t know what is wrong with me.

Tonight i did not have him make me anything and forgot to get a drink. I ran up to the little store a little while ago got coffee and an egg salad sandwich. I said I home this ends well. Why i trust egg salad from the little store i don’t know.

I thought of it after eating it, I just want to sit down eat a nice hearty home cooked meal. Everything I eat comes from a little store, $1 menus, snacks or what he makes me. Even what he makes isn’t really a meal or what.

I always cooked when I was home or had something in the crockpot. I made soups and stews. I was always looking for something new to try.

All the things I have been wanting are all meals. Hot balanced home cooked meal. Most the time what i get is cold or cold by the time i get to work. Even if it isn’t cold it is just something so I’m not hungry nothing all that good or you want to eat. Then I am eating the same handful of stuff over amd over again week after week.

Even when I am home on the weekend I cook but nothing like I use to. We go out to eat or we make quick stuff we get home late or trying to go somewhere.

Maybe I will get to cook something half way decent this weekend.

{October 18, 2018}   12:45 P.M. Time To Do Something

I have done nothing again today and the morning is over. I have slept and looked for jobs and been on here that is all. I have made some decisions about somethings that I have been thinking about. Other than that I have gotten nothing accomplished today yet. I have been getting up for hours to put dinner in the crockpot and have not yet. Now if I do not do it by 1 or around there I will not be able to. I have to because it has to have time to cook and I do not have time or feel like cooking later.

I have to get some things done here then get the kids from school. After that we are going to go walk the trails or something. Oldest has to be outside and active for an hour 3 or 4 times a week. We have slacked so we will be out a few hours today. It will be good we all need it.

Guess I better go get dinner started and things done I only have an hour and a half before little ones get out of school. I’ll be back later probably.

{August 16, 2013}   Beef and Veggie Soup

The other night I made pot roast and tried making it different this time. It came out so good. Here is the recipe  The Best Pot Roast. not sure why it isn’t letting me link to it but if you look under my other post you will see it.

What you need

The left over roast and all the liquid from the it. store separated

Red potatoes chunk-ed up peal on

Bag of baby carrots cut in half

12 oz can Pepsi

1 package of Au Ju mix

Cut all veggies up and put in large pot. Ad a stick of butter and enough water to just cover the veggies. Boil until done. Why that is cooking take the roast and shred it up. Pour the left over liquids into a sauce pan ad he Pepsi. Bring to a boil whisking now and then.  Once it starts to boil ad the Au Ju mix and whisk it in. Then ad the shredded meat and let boil until meat is hot. Drain veggies ad meat mixture to veggies and serve.

{August 12, 2013}   The Best Pot Roast….EVER!
You’ll need:
McCormicks slower cooker Savory Pot Roast season packet
An Au Jus packet
A Can of Pepsi (we use Coke because we always have coke in our house)
And Boneless Cross Rib Roast ( made this with a regular beef roast and it was great)

and your crock pot

Put your Roast in the crock pot.
Mix the Slow cooker seasoning with 1 cup of Water.
Pour on top of roast.
Add the whole can of Coke.
Cover with your lid for 8 Low or 4 hours on high.
Its VERY important that you never lift the lid!
Right before you are ready to pull it out,
sprinkle your dry Au Jus packet over the roast.
I pour some of the mix already in the pot over it to mix it all up then took the roast out and sliced it up. Put sauce from pot in little bowl use for dipping.
I also cut up some red potatoes into chunks got the little baby carrots mixed them together in a pot on the stove. Take one cup of the sauce out of the crock pot and pour over potatoes and carrots then drop a stick of butter on top. Cover and let cook until butter is melted and everything is tender.

{August 9, 2013}   Kool-Aid Play Dough

Today I made play dough for the kids to play with. It is very simple to make and comes out soft and really feels like play dough. The bags are what you get if you cut the recipe in half and make it. the cans in the back have twice as much as the bags.

1 cup of flour

1 cup boiling water

1/2 cup salt

3 TBS oil ( vegetable, cooking I would say you could even use baby oil probably and it would smell better)

1 package kool aid

I used a glass bowl a fork and serving spoon

if you are going to make a bunch of different colors like I did I suggest putting a big pan of water on to boil you need more than what you plan to use in the pan. I just sat my bowl on the stove with the water on the back burner and mixed it all right there. just dipped what I needed out as I needed it. You want it to be boiling so it works best you don’t want to boil it and then let it sit as you mix each one.

First in the bowl mix flour, salt, kool aid, oil.

( don’t forget to put your oil in before you start mixing. as it is very hard to get it to mix in once you have started.)

Then ad one cup boiling water mix with fork until water is gone and you have dough forming. Once I had all the water mixed in I took it out of the bowl and knee-ed it with my hands. I used the spoon to get what was stuck in the the corner of the bowl out and what was stuck to the bottom and sides. then knee all together and put in zip lock baggie or some kind of sealed container.

Once I was done with one color I just rinsed the bowl out made sure nothing was left in so colors didn’t mix and repeated to make the next color.

To make half just cut everything in half but still use one package of kool aid. if you wanted to make more I am sure you should be able to double this with no problems it seems to be very versatile i would use two packs of cool aid if I doubled it.

{November 14, 2012}

these sound really good and are something my kids would love to help make. they love to help cook and things.

{November 8, 2012}   Bread Bowls and Soups

Not really a recipe but a quick and Favorite of my kids. I was looking for something super fast but good and some what healthy for dinner, one of them night where dinner time came and went and you didn’t even notice. Digging threw the kitchen I found a big bag of rolls and a bunch of the Campbell’s thick and chunky soups I had gotten for lunches. I took the rolls got one of the small cups of the kids and made a hole in the middle of the rolls. Then let the kids each pick what soup they wanted. Heated the soup up and put it in the rolls and serve nice hearty filling warm dinner for a cool night. To me probably a lot healthier than a box of burger helper, hot dogs or something out of a bag in the freezer. Can do the same thing with a homemade pot of soup. Kids like them either way but prefer if I do the cans so they can pick their own soups out. I put the bread I cut out of the middle in a bag in the freezer and use it for meatloaf or meatballs.

{November 8, 2012}   Caramel Apples

Just seen this on a post and thought it looked like a really good idea. Haven’t tried it yet. Be good for snacks for the kids or holiday parties.

Do you love caramel apples but hate trying to eat them? Try it this way! Hollow out your apples, (you can balance the apple halves in a muffin pan) fill will melted caramel, let the caramel harden and cut into slices!

{November 7, 2012}   Stuffed Peppers

I hate green peppers but love the filling for them. My kids are the same way. My ex was the only one that would eat the peppers and if we have guest. I found a way to make them with out baking them. I can’t see waiting 30 minutes or so for one persons to cook why everyone else gets cold.

2 lbs ground meat chuck, turkey whatever you prefer

1 1/2 cups uncooked rice

one large can tomato sauce plus one reg can

4 to 6 green peppers

1 medium size onion

oregano, basil, garlic powder to taste

shredded cheese

Mix rice in 3 cups of water and put on to boil, cut up onion and put it and meat in skillet add spices.

while rice and meat cook cut tops off of peppers take seeds out and wash. meat and rice should be close to being done.

put peppers in large pot of water and put on to biol.

in meantime drain meat when it is done and mix it and rice together add large can of sauce and mix well. Put on med/low heat to warm.

in small pan or in microwave safe bowl heat small can of sauce.

watch your peppers boil to desired tenderness then remove from pot. for tender but not wilted looking 2 to 3 minutes. just depends how tender you want them.

Once rice and beat mixture is hot add cheese and stir

Stuff the peppers cover in sauce and serve

1. box of Herb stove top stuffing or cornbread stove top stuffing uncooked ( I like the cornbread better)

Family pack of pork chops (thin work best but thick are good too) You may need 2 boxes of stuffing if you use the thick.

3 to 5lb bag of apples enough for your family.

brown sugar

2 TBS butter or cooking spray

1 cup milk

Start by putting stuffing in gallon zip lock bag and roll with rolling pin until big pieces are broken up. Cut apples into chunks or wedges and put into baking dish. Cover with brown sugar and cinnamon to taste

Pour milk in small bowl. Spray glass baking pan with cooking spray or melt butter and coat pan. Dip both sides of pork chops in milk and put in bag of stuffing coating both sides. Place coated pork chop in baking pan a repeat with rest of pork chops. When all pork chops are in baking pan bake in oven at 350 degrees for approx 10 minutes on each side. Until the juices run clear.

Cook apples until they are fork tinder and sugar is melted.

The apples are good but not what I was expecting. I am looking for a different way to cook them. I will let you know if I find something better. We like to make green beans with this when we have it most the time. Seems to give it that finishing touch. Would love to hear how you like it when you try them. I will start taking pictures of the things I make when I cook them and post them with the recipe. When I make this again I will ad one.
